Student Leadership

Student Leadership
Students at Central Avenue have the opportunity to serve in a leadership role. These opportunities are open to our students in third, fourth, and fifth grades. Student may volunteer to participate in Safety Patrol and run for a Student Council position.

Student Council
Student Council is the governing body for Central Avenue Elementary. The officers consist of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Historian. Officers are elected by the student body in third through fifth grade. The election process is as follows:
* Students pick up an application.
* Campaign posters are made and displayed throughout the school.
* Speeches are given.
* Votes are cast.
Meetings are scheduled once a month. Student council officers and class representatives are required to attend. Central Avenue's Student Council advisors are Mrs. Nelson, Mrs. Kerby, Mrs. Dinkins and Mrs. Rooney.

Safety Patrol
Central Avenue’s Safety Patrol is responsible for helping our students cross safely to and from school. These students show leadership by reporting for duty on time; striving to prevent accidents and setting a good example; reporting dangerous practices; and striving to earn the respect of fellow students and staff members.
